Every time I'm at the Eye Doctor I find it hard to believe that they know nothing about Irlen Syndrome. It was discovered over 25 years ago. It's very genetic & affects over 50% of the population. Way more than the 20% that affects color blind but everyone seems to know about that. Both my kids have it & wear tinted lenses to help correct it.
Q: What causes Irlen Syndrome?
A: Medical research has shown that this type of perceptual problem appears to be caused by a defect in one of the visual pathways that carries messages from the eye to the brain. This defect causes a timing fault in processing visual information. Filtering out specific wave lengths of light helps the pathway to function normally.
Luckily Helen Irlen discovered this & luckily we have wonderful specialist that have helped us & continue to help us.
