Flooding in Peoria, IL

The Illinois River is up to historic levels of 30 feet which has never been seen before. In 1979 it was 28.2 & everyone thought that was bad. This is a lot worse. I'm sad for the families that it has happened to & am amazed at the good natured attitude overall with the homeowners & the community support & help from volunteers from Southern Illinois. Here is a picture of the water level up to the top of my friends basement (where I stayed my Senior year) with her family. It is her dad in the water. Luckily they got everything out in time so he's happy as you can tell by the smile on his face.
It's affected a lot of Chillicothe & Rome so many IVC families that we know. It's affected Greg's co-workers, people at church, & many others that weren't on the water because the water table got so high. We are so lucky! All the neighbors probably think we had a problem though because we have so much garbage from all the purging we are doing. Our new philosophy is if we wouldn't try to save it in a flood then we probably don't need it. So we have 4 shred baskets full (yes I found taxes back from 1995) & I lost count of garbage bags, & 8 donation containers. Although I'm feeling a bit more settled & more organized I'm not sure we are close yet. I mean I just bought a Magazine on Organizing 2 days ago & now I can't find it. The irony here is hilarious!
