First & Second day of school!

Well the kids started at 2 different schools this morning. And they were both very excited for the day to finally be here.  Here Shaelyn is in her new room getting ready.

Here's her before school picture.

Here's Lake Denoon Middle School where she attends now.
 (5th grade - 8th grade)

It's official I now have a Middle Schooler! She even got her lock open on the first try. She has a great class since 9 girls stopped & introduced themselves to her super sweetly. It made my heart melt, then the teacher hugged me & said she'll be in good hands. It brought a tear to my eye. So thankful!

Then I took Brayden's first day pictures.

Then I took him to his new school called Country Meadows & he was all smiles.

Here he is outside his school & with the mascot pictured on the floor that he loves.

You can tell in this picture he is starting to get nervous. Then his teacher showed up & he was fine.

The bus brought them home & I heard all about it!  It's exciting that I get some time with each of them after school so they can tell me about their day separately.

So far my daughter is thrilled that one of her electives they are starting sewing. They are making a bag. She cant wait. They just finished a unit on cooking.

On her 2nd day of school Shaelyn got her Chromebook which is like a laptop. It is part of a pilot program where the 5th graders & the incoming freshman in high school all got one & they are comparing the results at the end of the year. I'm understanding that it is successful so far so she might have it all the way through. But we will see. She's excited about doing her projects & homework on it. Shes making a power point presentation for one of her classes so I have a feeling she will be well prepared for the business world in the future. She has a technical teacher too. And a class where its hands on science to build technical things like boats, planes, & cars. She loves it & thinks Brayden will too.

The PE teachers run the kids a lot more here which is good for them. In IL they make them sit to be quiet before the activity. In WI they run them until they are quiet. Shaelyn said they seem to get very quiet when they are out of breath.

Brayden said they ran once around the gym for warm up at Banner & sometimes 3 times. Here they always run 5-10 times. It's good for the kids.

Although I have to say he has gotten really fast. The only way I can beat him in races anymore (which we have been doing everyday after school now that the weather is nicer) is to make us have to compete running backwards. ; )

Hope next week goes as well for the kids.
