Purdy, our American Foxhound, turns 3 we think. We got her from the Ark, a shelter in Lacon, IL where they brought her back on the floor of the truck front seat when they picked up 17 dogs from a kill shelter in Missouri. She didn't fit in the crate because they thought she was a Beagle & sent a 20 # short crate & she was 30# & taller than her crate. The truck driver said she never made a sound . And she's still only barked 4 times in the 2 years we've had her & it was more like a Yelp & that's mostly excitement at the farmhouse with the 4 wheeler.
She's a very sweet dog that either Greg or I walk 3 miles every morning just because they are known to need more exercise. If she gets her walk then she pretty much eats & sleeps in one of her round beds until after school time. Then she goes out for Zoomies where she runs figure 8's in our backyard. She loves playing with the kids too. She will fetch her various ropes & balls. She doesn't always give it back to Greg & I because she wants us to chase her but the kids she lays it right down on their feet generally. Demonstrating how sweet & gentle she is around children. Which is especially good if the kids have friends over. She has friends too. Deana (Bella too) & Traci, our neighbors. She used to just run across the street the minute Traci came out. But now she will sit & wait for our command to go & then it looks something like this picture below as she bolts across.
