Alto saxophone

The saxophone was invented by a Belgian musician, Adolphe Sax in 1841; it was finally patented in 1846. Today it is made in eight sizes, from the sopranino to the sub-double bass. It amazes me how the Saxophone is such a big part of our extended family since so many family members have played the Saxophone. We just keep passing it down the generations. My grandma, Pearl Schueffner, played & past it to my dad. He passed it to his 3 kids. Rob played this & baritone sax. I played tenor sax in jazz band but played alto in marching band & concert band. Suzanne played too. Now we are passing it onto the next generation. I hope my kids have good band experiences like I had. Hopefully they won't continue to cut the Music Program in Schools. Right now Shaelyn is playing Violin but next year she can choose her instrument. Not sure what she'll choose? Maybe saxophone?
